Call the Midwife – Season 3

Call The Midwife: Season 3

- Introduction -

For Season 3 we wanted to build on what we'd done for Season 2's shoot. So this time we rented a local resident's home here in Washington, DC, and used several of the rooms as set backdrops with different props incorporated from the show. The entire shoot was done in less than 7 hours and with a crew of only 5. Down and dirty - but sometimes those are the most satisfying.

The Challenge:
Come up with a graphic look for the CTM promos inspired by the show/time period - London in the 1950s. Timeline: 3 - 4 days.

Pre-Production:
We looked at options for stock footage as well as a studio shoot with set design - or shoot on location. Shooting on location was the way to go to get the look we needed and to avoid time/budget constraints.

A fellow producer did some preliminary scouting and sent pictures. We then took a small crew on a location scout to assess location, lighting and shoot direction.

Production:
We rented a Canon 5D Mark III and additional supplies from local rental house, used a small in-house crew with myself creative directing.
