“In the animal kingdom, the name of the game is kill, or be killed.”
Those are the words spoken to introduce National Geographic’s new show, Killer Animal Tactics. To promote and package such an aggressive and compelling show, they turned to their trusted partner, Interface Media Group, for color correction and sound design, who in turn, partnered with It’sWilder to design a dynamic and engaging graphic toolkit including a Show Open, Animal IDs, Transitions, Lower Thirds, and more.
With a topic that’s so aggressive, it was important the logo represent the tone of the show. Strong fonts and bold colors formed the base of the design, while grunge textures lend a sense of the wild.
With the logo established, we turned our attention to the Show Open to drive the rest of the toolkit. The concept of breaking apart elements and putting them back together became a central theme. It originates from the notion that each animal on the show comprises different tactics that are parts of a whole. It uses a dramatic tonal palette from the National Geographic Wild brand guide and graphic details to bring life to the footage.
As part of the toolkit, It’sWilder created 12 unique IDs - one for each animal featured in the show. Each ID was crafted from a still image and animated in After Effects to provide the camera movent and graphic details.
