Independent Lens approached It’sWilder about designing a social media campaign to promote their upcoming documentary Bedlam, which examines mental health crises through intimate stories of people in and out of ERs, jails, and homeless camps.
The show chronicles the personal, poignant stories of those suffering from severe mental illness, including the filmmaker’s own family, to bring to light this epidemic and possible solutions.
It’sWilder worked closely with Independent Lens to develop animated social media posts that help shed light on some frightening statics.
The final design introduced the idea of “cards”—each with a statistic that animated on, showcasing some alarming facts. The color palette is pulled directly from Independent Lens’ style guide, and so is the font to subtly signal the underlying brand to the user. The light grey backgrounds and the soft glow emanating from each card represent a hospital environment and create the illusion of a tactile object in a digital world.
