In working with National Geographic, Interface Media Group (IMG) approached It’sWilder about designing and animating a graphics toolkit for a show called “Secrets of the Zoo: Tigers.”
The show highlights clips from two of the largest and most popular zoos in the U.S., Ohio’s renowned Columbus Zoo and Tampa, FL. The final toolkit included animated elements such as Show Logos, Lower Thirds, and Map Indicators.
It’sWilder and IMG worked closely with National Geographic to develop this toolkit for an additional five versions of the show: Rhinos, Giraffes, Reptiles, Penguins, and Monkeys.
The client requested a hint of the animals from the show in each of the title logos. Since you can’t change a Tiger’s stripes, we thought that was the perfect place to start. We went for a playful and colorful design rooted in National Geographic Wild’s brand colors.
We added a little bit of the main animal’s texture for each of the subsequent show titles into the logo itself. This design was carried over to other elements within the toolkit, such as lower thirds and map markers, ensuring each show had its own personality and identity.
